Morning and Evening Prayers

At Regina Cleri Seminary, morning and evening prayer times became quiet yet profound anchors for young minds, shaping hearts and souls in subtle but lasting ways. For those in the midst of adolescence—an age marked by curiosity, questions, and the desire for connection—the disciplined rhythm of these prayer times offered a sanctuary of peace and solitude. Each morning and evening, the young seminarians found themselves setting aside the concerns of studies, friendships, and the uncertainties of life, turning their focus inward and upward.

The morning prayer was like a spiritual sunrise, aligning intentions for the day ahead. In those moments, the world felt still, and the chapel, with its comforting silence, invited reflection on the beauty and purpose of the day to come. For young minds hungry to understand life’s larger questions, this time of quiet created a space to consider God’s presence in every action, interaction, and challenge that lay ahead. In prayer, they found strength and reassurance, gaining a sense of direction before stepping into the busyness of daily life.

Evening prayer, in contrast, was a time to slow down, release the day’s burdens, and reflect on moments of growth. It was a chance to revisit the day, thanking God for the highs, learning from the lows, and finding peace in the knowledge that each day was a step closer to understanding oneself and one’s faith. This regular evening retreat into prayer gave a profound sense of closure and stability, creating a rhythm that gently reminded them that they were guided and loved, no matter what the day had brought.

In these structured moments of solitude, young seminarians learned that prayer was not just about recitation or ritual; it was a relationship, an ongoing conversation with God. Through the sacred silence and the quiet camaraderie of shared prayer, they were building a foundation that would stay with them long after their time at Regina Cleri Seminary. The memory of these prayer times remains a touchstone of peace, a reminder of the unique environment that fostered a deep, enduring closeness to God, shaping their spiritual journeys for years to come.

It's night time now, time again to pray once more…

‘Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep’

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

Guide me safely through the night,

Wake me with the morning light.

Bless my family everywhere,

Keep us safe within your care.

Forgive my sins from day to day,

And help me choose your Holy way.

Amen
