Movie Night

The refectory buzzed with laughter as the seminary students relaxed, crowded together for movie night. The glow of the screen reflected in their eyes, illuminating wide grins and quiet chuckles. They were all lost in the story, wrapped up in the shared moment of levity—everyone except one young man off to the side.

He sat apart, arms crossed loosely on his chest, his face set in a quiet, pensive expression. Now and then, he’d glance at the screen, but his gaze drifted elsewhere as though seeing something beyond the room. Was he missing someone from home? Questioning his dinner choices? Or simply feeling out of step with the lightheartedness around him?

As laughter rippled through the room, he gave a small smile, just enough to blend in—but the far-off look in his eyes suggested he was somewhere else, lost in thoughts no one could see…
